Pushing Ahead for Our Kids Scholarship

This scholarship was started by Wheeles Karate Academy for families that may not have the financial resources to provide their children with this learning experience. We feel the structure and learning process of martial arts can help children learn self-discipline, and achieve other goals in every aspect of life. 

This year, we will be awarding two (2) boys and two (2) girls with a scholarship.  This scholarship is a one (1) year scholarship at the Wheeles Karate Academy.  This scholarship includes: one (1) year of karate lessons, one (1) uniform, one (1) WKA t-shirt,  one (1) tournament per year, and all testing fees. This scholarship does not include sparring gear, private lessons, after school karate program, Jujutsu lessons, summer camp, winter camp, parent’s night out, karate competition team, or any other special events held by Wheeles Karate Academy.(A set of sparring gear and weapons, will be available at the dojo for the students use.) Additional uniforms are available for purchase.

Approximate value of this scholarship is $1,600.00.  Students are required to maintain good grades, behavior, and attendance at school. If at any time the child chooses not to participate or fails to attend eighty percent (80%) of scheduled training each month, the scholarship will be withdrawn, and funds will be held until the next scholarship year. If a medical issue arises that prevents the student from attending class, the instructors will use their discretion to excuse the absence.

• Child must be between the ages of 6 & 12 years old

• Parents must fully complete scholarship application and submit proof of income

• Student must maintain good grades, behavior, and attendance at school

• Student must write one paragraph about why they want to take karate

• Parents must write one paragraph about why they want the child to take karate
